DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT & LABOUR approved yet another SANS 1475 Certification Body:

BSI Group also known as the British Standards Institution is the national standards body of the United Kingdom. They offer an array of services including management systems certification, accredited testing and training to name but a few. This is the second approval by the DEL within two years following the approval of SACAS (South African Certification and Auditing Services) in early 2018.

The SANS 1475 parts 1 and 2 revised drafts are out for public comment and as a FFETA member you were made aware of this early last month. For those of you who would still like to comment, you have until 22nd September to do so. All comments must be sent directly to the SABS directly on a template that is on the Website. Now is the opportunity to speak up. If you don’t use the opportunity to comment, then your ideas cannot be taken into consideration with the finalization of SANS 1475 1&2. If you have any queries or questions on the draft, then please forward to this office so these can be forwarded to our representative on the Working Group.

The 1475 Qualification is now complete. However, SAQCC 1475 will await completion of the fire detection and gas suppression qualification as they both will need to be registered together. Good news for SAQCC Fire is that the QCTO will be taking over all future costs for the registration of the qualifications going forward.
