FFETA launches 50th Anniversary Year in style
Saturday 18th November, saw The Indaba Hotel in Fourways host FFETA’s Black Tie Function to launch the start of its celebrations for its 50 years as an Association.
80 guests from all over the country were treated to a feast of magic, entertainment and wonderful music – not to mention the glorious food. MC Francois Marais not only ate fire but amazed everyone with his magic tricks. Thanks to his adept handling of all the events, he helped Pre Govender, FFETA’s chair, ensure that the evening ran smoothly. The band, Havana Gas, delighted everyone with their ability to play music of any era and genre, and for the first time, we hired Linda of Whitecliffs as a professional photographer to mark the event in photos and film.
During 2023, draws were held at each FFETA function in the various provinces for a couple to win tickets to the celebration. Seven lucky couples from FFETA member companies were wined and dined in style.
Awards and certificates were handed out to five companies that were present with over 30 years of membership each. These were East Rand Fire, Fire & General, Fire Check, Firequip Welkom and Mega Fire. Meshack Gabeni from Mega Fire was also presented with a very special gift to mark his 30 years as a member of the FFETA Committee – some of those as Chair and Vice Chair. He does not anticipate leaving anytime soon, so here's to the next 30 years! Rosemary Cowan, who has been with FFETA since 1990, was surprised to receive a very special award as a mark of her service to FFETA. She received a standing ovation and to say she was lost for words is remarkable, as she is not normally that quiet!

FFETA will be extending the celebrations around the country, so for FFETA members in the provinces, there is a lot to look forward to in 2024.
