FFETA Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Promotional Programe

As highlighted in our last bulletin, this is an initiative designed to highlight and support the meaningful community-driven efforts of FFETA members by providing a platform for members to showcase their CSR programs.

We are highlighting the first of these: the HONEYBADGER CAMPS. These camps are presented by one of our Affiliate members, Accu-SHERQ Risk Consultants, who not only sponsor it but are also actively involved in the organisation and presentation of it.

The original Honeybadger Boot Camp was set up in the Overberg District of the Westen Cape with the aim of developing skills in teenagers to make them employable and to empower the next generation of resilient leaders. Their mission is to intercept the lives of teenagers, setting them on a new course away from the inherent dangers that lie in their paths within their existing communities. “Keeping the kids out of gangs” became their vision.

Through participation in the Honeybadger Camps, teenagers are given HOPE: Honour, Opportunity, Purpose, and Empowerment. Honeybadger Camps require assistance through donations of equipment, food, and money. Atlas Fire in Cape Town have already assisted with the filling of fire extinguishers for use during training on the camps.

If you are one of our member companies in the Western Cape, please consider becoming involved. They are looking for camp volunteers who have skills to share and time to invest. The camps are currently run in the Southern Cape region, targeting teenagers from the Overberg District and surrounding areas. At the last committee meeting, it was agreed that FFETA would sponsor or provide assistance to one CSR programme each year commencing with Honeybadger Camps as they have been the first to come forward. If your company has such a programme, then please forward the details to FFETA. We will highlight you in one of the Bulletins – add you to the Social Responsibility section and you will go into the running along with any others to obtain sponsorship from FFETA in the future. You will also feature on the FFETA Facebook page – thus give publicity to both your programme and your company, which can only be of benefit.
