SANS Updates

SANS 1475 Part 2 – Hose Reels and Hydrants has now officially been published and is available for purchase on the SABS store website. This new publication introduces several extensive updates that are significant for 1475 technicians. The changes to procedures and processes are more comprehensive than before, including the inclusion of a wider range of hydrants, such as underground hydrants. It is crucial for professionals in the field to obtain the new standard to ensure compliance and stay updated with the latest requirements and best practices.

Additionally, SANS 1475 Part 1 was released for public comment at the beginning of July with comments to be in by September. A copy of the draft is available from the Administration office – and if you wish to comment, you will then need to follow the instructions in the document. This cannot be returned to FFETA as you must submit this yourself. Following the completion of the public comment period, it will proceed through final review and adjustments before being finalized and published.
