Registration with Merseta: The Advantages
In light of the progress SAQCC Fire has made to register the Qualification “Fire Fighting Equipment Installer / Commissioner”, which includes the part qualifications for 1475, kitchen and vehicle systems, companies planning to send staff on these courses should ensure they are registered for SDL (Skills Development Levy) and with the correct SETA which in this case would be MERSETA for the 1475 and gas qualification.
Companies that are registered with MERSETA would be able to benefit financially when staff successfully pass these courses.
Although companies are only required to register for SDL when their payroll is more than R500 000, it is a consideration to register due to the benefits should they plan to send staff for these courses.
If your company is not registered, ensure that you register your company timeously as from the date of registration, there is a waiting period before your company can participate in the funding process.
