QCTO Update

QCTO Update

SAQCC FIRE’s working committee dealing with the External Integrated Summative assessment(EISA) addendum for the National Occupation Certificate: Fire Protection installer/commissioner is nearing the completion of this process. This occupation covers the scope of 1475, kitchen and vehicle systems. The committee had to compile the qualification assessment standards including the EISA so that when learners complete the theoretical and practical training and work experience sections, they will undergo a final assessment at a QCTO(Quality Council for Trades & Occupations) accredited assessment centre. The requirements of this process had to be standardised similar to the South African final Grade 12 examinations. Once this last leg is completed, the next step would be to submit the qualification to the QCTO for approval and thereafter it will be submitted to SAQA(South African Qualifications Authority) for final approval and registration.

This has been a long and lengthy process but will eventually lead to all those in the industry having a recognised trade.
