QCTO Feedback

The good news is that the Higher Occupational Certificate: Gaseous Fire Suppression System designer qualification has been approved and registered by SAQA with the SAQA qualification ID 121687. This has been a long road since the SAQCC Fire tackled this endeavour and this is the first real outcome.

The QCTO required the 1475, kitchen and vehicle system qualification occupations to be accompanied with the relevant external integrated assessment addendums(QAS). These were submitted by the working committee to Merseta who finally approved and submitted these to the QCTO last week. Once the QCTO approves it, they will submit it to SAQA for approval.

The Gaseous occupational contents for the remaining qualifications ie commissioner, technician and pipe fitter were submitted to SAQA, but as the QAS documentation was not required at that point, it is expected that the requirement will be to develop the QAS before these qualifications will be approved.
