Fun and festivities at 'traditional' year end function
Not even the rain could dampen spirits at the FFETA year end function, held at "Nice to Meat You" in Kemptom Park. "Meat" was the operative word, as the braais were lit and the steaks, chops and wors sizzled. But that's not all that was on the menu. We enjoyed some of the most wonderful starters and desserts imaginable.
In line with the 'traditional' theme, everyone was encouraged to wear traditional dress, which led to a lot of laughter as most guests really entered into the spirit of it.
Overall winner of the best dressed prize was Felicity Magodi from Advanced FSS, who looked amazing in her gold and orange gown, which was actually one of her wedding dresses. Runners-up were our previous Chair, Belinda van der Merwe as a Voortrekker, and Lindsay Diden as a fraulein. Noco Van Veen, who looked like a Father Christmas gone wrong, won the 'most ridiculous' award.
During the evening, a presentation was made Jeremy Kellett, who is standing down from FFETA and the fire industry as a whole, after over 36 years in the business. He is off to spend his retirement in the Kruger Park, and we wish him many happy years of leisure.
